The Volkswagen T-Roc Cabrio is the balanced answer: open-air driving, two suitcases, and enough ride height to make the inland roads relaxed rather than tiring. It is the convertible most people are happy driving every day of the week.
Four adults who still want the roof down
The Opel Cascada Cabrio is the only convertible in this selection listed with space for three suitcases and genuinely usable rear seats. It is a large car — check your accommodation parking before booking.
Families, or anyone who wants quiet
The electric SUVs. The Volkswagen ID.4 is the practical five-seat choice, the ID.5 the more design-led version, and the Audi Q4 e-tron the most refined. All three are automatics, and all three need a little charging planning.
Shoulder season, April–May or October
The Peugeot 308 Cabrio's folding metal hard top makes it the sensible convertible outside high summer: a proper quiet coupé on the cool, windy mornings, fully open by the afternoon.
