Rhodes, Greece
Two cars, both Fiat 500 Cabrios — one manual, one automatic. They are small, they take one large suitcase, and they are rented with no security deposit, which is unusual and worth knowing if you would rather not have €400 blocked on a card for a week.

The Fiat 500 Cabrio is a small city car with a roll-back canvas roof rather than a full folding top. That is the whole reason it is cheaper to rent than a T-Roc Cabrio or an Audi A3 Cabrio: less car, less engine, less luggage space. What it keeps is the part people actually come for — open sky above the Kallithea coast road.
Both cars have four seats with one large suitcase of boot space. Two people with cabin bags are comfortable. Four adults with a week's luggage are not, and it is better to say that here than to have you discover it at the airport.
Neither Fiat 500 Cabrio requires a security deposit. Nothing is blocked on your card and there is no cash to hand over at pickup, so there is also nothing waiting to be released afterwards. Every other cabrio we show carries a €400 deposit and the electric cars €1,000.
If a blocked card amount is the thing that makes you hesitate about renting in Greece, these are the two cars to look at first.
They are separate cars with separate availability, so pick deliberately. The manual is the cheaper of the two and fine if you are comfortable changing gear on hills — the climb towards Embonas and the run up to Filerimos both ask for third gear more often than you would expect.
The automatic costs a little more and removes all of that, which matters most in Rhodes Town traffic and in the queues into Lindos in August.
Village parking. Archangelos, Embonas, Lindos's upper car parks and the lanes behind Rhodes Town's walls are all easier in a car this size, and in high season the last free space is usually one a 500 fits and a Cascada does not.
The one route where you feel the size is the long southern run to Prasonisi — it is around two hours each way from Rhodes Town, and a larger car is calmer at 90 km/h. Everything north of Gennadi suits the little Fiat well.
