Rhodes, Greece
Rhodes is about 80 km long. Most holiday driving days fit comfortably inside one charge, which makes an EV a far more sensible island car than people expect — provided you plan charging rather than assume it.

Rhodes is roughly 80 km from north to south and 38 km at its widest. Rhodes Town to Lindos is about 50 km; to Prasonisi at the very southern tip is about 90 km. A typical holiday day — beach, a village, dinner — is well under 120 km.
That is why an electric SUV works here in a way it might not on a mainland road trip. The realistic question is not range, it is where you plug in overnight.
Public charging on Rhodes has grown but is still concentrated around Rhodes Town, Ialyssos, Faliraki and the airport area, with far less in the south. Treat public chargers as a convenience, not a plan.
The plan should be your accommodation. A growing number of hotels and villas around Rhodes Town, Kallithea and Lindos have a charger or an outdoor socket. Ask before you book the car, and if the answer is no, choose a petrol cabrio instead — that is a better outcome than a stressful holiday.
The VW ID.4 is the sensible family choice: five seats, a large boot, and a soft ride that suits the patched surfaces on the inland roads. The ID.5 is the same car with a sleeker roofline and a slightly more finished cabin. The Audi Q4 e-tron is the most refined of the three, with the quietest interior at speed.
All three are automatic, all three are air conditioned, and all three carry two suitcases comfortably. Instant torque is genuinely useful on the climbs towards Embonas and on the steep hotel driveways in the south.
Regenerative braking does most of the work on the descent from Profitis Ilias, which means you arrive at the bottom with more charge than you expect. Air conditioning at full blast costs range — budget roughly ten per cent on a hot day.
Return conditions differ from petrol cars: you are not refuelling, so confirm the expected state of charge on collection. That detail, like pricing and availability, is confirmed on the Rhodes Booking Marketplace.
