1. Move your dates a fortnight
The single biggest saving on Rhodes is calendar-based. A convertible in the last week of June or the second week of September costs far less than the same car in the first week of August, with better roads and warmer sea in September.
2. Rent for the whole stay
Per-day rates fall as the rental lengthens. Two separate three-day rentals almost always cost more than one seven-day rental, and you avoid two extra pickups.
3. Book early for the specialist cars
Cabrios and convertibles are limited in number. Early bookings have the widest choice of automatic, manual, budget and premium open-top cars; in August, late availability may be very limited.
4. Pay more only where it changes the holiday
